Thank you haters!

thank you haters shirt

I’m a big Six:02 fan, they curate some of the best workout gear from brands like Fenty, Puma, Ivy Pary, Adidas, Nike and some more indie fitness brands. Their latest campaign “Thank You” — or rather “Thank You Haters!” features actress Bella Thorne thanking “haters” who have motivated her to be her best.

As a part of the campaign, SIX:02 will debut an exclusive line of “Thank You” tanks and hats with a portion of proceeds donated to Step Up, supporting the organization’s efforts to propel girls from under-resourced communities and empowering them to become confident, college-bound, career-focused, and ready to join the next generation of professional women.

I love the positive spin and attitude this campaign is taking. I try to be a really positive person but there are a lot of backhanded compliments and negative energy you just have to put up with and not engage with when you start seriously blogging and getting yourself out there. But truth be told all of that has motivated and pushed me to be better. You can either sit there wasting your energy being resentful and tearing people down or focus it on doing something great for yourself and others.

So thank you haters, all of you. Because there’s no way you’re living life half as hard as I am or as happily. Thank you for motivating me and pushing me to be better. It’s because of you I have so much more integrity and when brands try to get me to do something I don’t believe in, you’re my scapegoat. I never thought I’d get to a point where I’d be able to change programs and make campaigns better with a simple explanation of “I can’t do it your way, I’ll totally get cyber bullied…” Thank you for never letting me cut corners, and making me an overall better person. Because, I never want to be like you.

BITE Launches The Lip Pencil

Bite Beauty has done it again with their latest launch of The Lip Pencil. I’m addicted to lip liners so this launch I’m especially excited for, although I am one to use their Matte Cream Lip Crayon to line my lips for a thicket edge. These of course offer more precision but much like their other lippies is super pigmented and the perfect addition to the line. Featuring 28 new shades, The Lip Pencil collection offers precise coverage with their super sharpened tip (just make sure to own a good sharpener!) and are easy to blend for a no-mess application.

Pair one of these babies with Bite’s infamous Amuse Bouche lipstick (it’s their one year anniversary!) for unparalleled dimension and pigment. These liners are created with whipped shea butter for a creamy consistency that’s easy to apply. It’s weightless and comfortable to wear. The color is the exact to the color swatch on the bottom of the pencil.

These new 28 shades range from bold berry hues to vivid pops of pink and nudes perfect for a springtime loop.  There’s even a white, black, and deep forest green (although those more edgy shades are harder to find) in the lineup.

The majority of The Lip Pencil collection (22 shades) are for $18. Be sure to  check them out on social media with the hashtag #TheLipPencil.

Hot Lips + beauty picks of the week!

I’ve been playing with some new and not so new beauty products and am overdue for a round up. But before we even talk makeup, you know how much I love a strong ring game and this week I got this fun lip ring (as in actual lips on a ring — not ring in my lips!) from Solange Azagury – Partrdige’s new Hoptlips Core Collection. Cara Delevingne has one so these are like our bff rings… jk, but it does feel like a ring every beauty blogger would want. They are available in so many fun lip shades, mine is in Black Cherry. And speaking of beauty I’m overdue to express how much I love the products in this picture.

Most of them are from events or random mailers that showed up at my apartment months and months ago — it takes me a while to try products. And these have been in my makeup case almost nonstop!

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‘//’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

The Estee Edit Beam Team Hydrate + Glow (which just makes me skin look so healthy and luminous) and the Flash Illuminator Fluid Powder which is one of my favorite highlighters. It gives me a lot of control to naturally highlight my face or go super crazy for a more intense cheek highlight. I also love it for under my brows to highlight.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk De-Puffing Eye Balm – I’m literally always rubbing this like a balm under my eyes! Under makeup, over makeup, when I wake up, mid day… It’s just the best for when my eyes need a pick me up. The whole collection (there’s a cleanser and moisturizer in the line as well!) is amazing for sensitive skin and is so gentle. They also just launched a serum I’m itching for!

Georgie Faux Lashes No. 5 Midnight Muse, which is the perfect, “I want a full lash, without being over the top. I LOVE these lashes! I’m on my third time wearing them, I try to preserve my lashes when they are quality!) and Clear Lash Adhesive non-toxic faux lash adhesive. First off my eyes are really sensitive and this glue, maybe because it’s non-toxic or whatever goes into being peta/vegan certified but it doesn’t bother my eyes and holds everything in place. I found this line at Blue Mercury and it’s a gem!

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination – I loved the original Bye Bye Under Eye and the new illumination just has a little brightener added so I look less tired. And I’m always tired so this product is a regular on my face. It has lots of coverage and I even use it as a concealer around my mouth and other places on my face.

Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Raw Power – I need more of her eyeshadows. The formulations are beautiful and blend so well. I didn’t know how I’d feel about this shade since it’s like a metallic bronzed red but it’s so pretty on, that other than the black eyeliner it’s the only shade I’m wearing. It’s incredibly buildable, I went on the lighter side and had no fall out and the formula is so smooth!

YSL Lip Liner #11 Plum – This is one of those lipliners that if they ever discontinued I’d need notice so I can literally buy 50. And they have me nervous since I only seem to be able to get this color off their site. It’s the most perfect plum-wine shade and I can get the most precise line with it. Or you can blend it into your lipstick to alter the shade as I did in the photo of me (I put it under the Lorac Pro in Pink Taupe, blended then added a balm). Normally, I am not a fan of sharpening pencils but I will happily make an exception for my favorite lipliner.

Lorac Pro Matte Lip Color in Pink Taupe – I love a good matte that’s wears comfortably, I can even add a gloss or balm on top without my lips piling. It’s more nude than pink but has just a hint and I love this shade with a wine liner for some definition.

NARS Kohliner Eyeliner pencil is another favorite, so much so that this is (teardrop) the last use. I burn through these eyeliners… I’m a total black eyeliner junkie! It’s easy twist packaging makes it so you never need to sharpen, it’s a dark black which I love for my waterline and bottom lash to smoke out a little.

Too Faced Sketch Marker Liquid Eyeliner – I’m usually so loyal to Stila and Kat Von D’s liquid eyeliner that I get lazy with trying others. Big mistake! From the packaging (which is always epic with TooFaced), it looks like a pen, to the formula, which is really dark black — my personal preference! The tip is so fine that it’s easy to make a thin line or fill in for a thicker one. It’s also great for using with false lashes to fill in any gaps and also push them down to make sure they stay in place while the glue is drying.

As many of you know I’ve been on my naturals kick lately and one brand I’ve been seeing forever and dying to try is ILIA. Their signature lipsticks feature 72% certified organic ingredients that off a creamy, soft finish. For fall they have added three new shades: Madam Mina (nude mauve) and The Brides (warm nude) are limited edition and Lucy’s Party (blood red), will be part of their permanent collection. Just look at that sheen!

All shades are true to shade with buildable color. They go on beautifully and feel amazing and lightweight on. The names of the three new lipsticks are inspired by the leading characters of Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula from the 90s.

Movie Night with Lily Collins and Miles Teller

This week, I hit two advance screenings of movies, that are biopics based on real life legends coming out later this month. The first being “Rules Don’t Apply” based on Howard Hughes with Lily Collins (I know, I love her!). And yes I asked about her brows — she uses Maybelline Clear Gel to groom them but basically otherwise keeps them full and doesn’t do anything. She even upkeep’s them herself. I will get back to the movie review but can we take a second to appreciate that she doesn’t even need to fill them in and she goes “drugstore” (her choice word) on them.  Best brows in Hollywood!

The other movie I caught was ‘Bleed for This‘ based on the incredible story of boxer, Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza played by Miles Teller, who did a Q&A after the screening. I’ve always thought of him as more of a bro-type actor/person but he blew me away with his performance, range and personality both on and off the screen. I think he and Lily Collins for that matter are two of the most talented actors of their generation. Movie reviews/trailers below!

Rules Don’t Apply (opens November 23rd)

We all know the name Howard Hughes but to watch a movie set in the 1950s with him (played by Warren Beatty) and his mysterious, crazy ways of running Hollywood and what feels like the world was an experience. The movie has two story lines intertwined between the development of Beatty’s character (a biopic of Hughes life) and a budding love story between Marla (played by Lily Collins), an aspiring actress discovered and brought to Hollywood by Hughes and her driver, Frank Forbes (played by Alden Ehrenreich). There were some definite unexpected twists and turns but the acting, cameos (everyone from Annette Bening, Candice Bergen, Matthew Broderick, Ed Harris, Alec Baldwin, Martin Sheen, and beyond), costumes and wallpaper were so phenomenal that I found it incredibly entertaining. The movie shifts gears but has a strong start and finish with some laughs in between. If the trailer excited you, go see it!

Bleed for This (opens November 18th)

Based on the career of Providence local, Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza, his story is unparalleled. If you enjoy uplifting under-dog sports movies, in this case boxing, get ready to be inspired. His strength in being knocked down or out and coming back stronger is unbelievable… literally. The trailer pretty much tells the story and does not disappoint. His ability to fight back after being in a terrible car accident and do the impossible is such a testament to believing in yourself and his strength. I can not believe this was a true story and walked out so inspired and moved.
