Coachella Diaries: Neon Carnival, Victoria’s Secret Angel Oasis, Nylon, Bumbleland and more!

Coachella is always my favorite time of the year and this season, the parties were especially epic! The classics like Neon Carnival, I always look forward to as well as some new events like Victoria’s Secret Angel Oasis. This year we made it a double date and I traveled around with my girl, Kristi from Currently Crushing. For all the music, you can livestream the performances at, as for the parties here’s a peek into them! All the parties featured in the video with details below!

Pre-festival hike with with Asics and Cobra Fitness Club.

If you’re in the Palm Springs Area, the Tahquitz Canyon Trail is a beautiful way to start the day. Asics outfitted guests outfits including these ASICS DynaFlyte sneakers for a pre-festival hike.

Victoria’s Secret VS Angel Oasis

This party did not disappoint, set in a beautiful mansion and with impeccable grounds there was not a shortage of activations or VS Angels dancing! They customized Levi’s denim jackets with angel wings by Phoebe Paints and Julia Adelina. Sarah Potempa of The Beachwaver and her team were doing hair (just like at the VS Fashion Show!), while Tarte was on makeovers (yes, their Shape Tape is everything it’s cracked up to be), and LECHAT was providing nail art and gel manicures. Frasier Sterling was also customizing chokers and RAD + REFINED was bedazzling their sunglasses and featured a special performance by Bebe Rexha! They also debuted their new Sexy Little Things collection, which is so hot! Quick slide show below of some favorites! x Paper ‘The Pretty Little Playground’ Party

Paper magazine teamed up with to host a fun party with special performance by French Montana. The event featured a store and an endless dance party, not to mention a food truck which is the sign of any good party.

POPSUGAR Cabana Club

I always look forward to the annual POPSUGAR Cabana Club as a time to connect with bloggers all over the country. This year they threw a fabulous pool party complete with a Nordstrom suite showing off the Kelsey Montague Art wall, which you probably saw countless bloggers Instagram holding the illustrated balloons. Ulta Beauty hosted a beauty suite with hair and makeup as well as customized makeup cases you could fill with select products from NARS, Becca, Smashbox and more! They also had select merchandise they feature in the POPSUGAR Must Have Box. All I know is I wish I had room in my suitcase for this Flamingo Candle.

Winter Bumbleland

Hosted by the Bumble app, it was apres-ski at it’s finest — or as well as one can pull off in the desert. Fake snow, tubing, and a braid bar by Batiste dry shampoo. There was also this magical closed off room which made you feel like you were under the stars — you have to see the video to see what I’m talking about, it was so pretty!

Nudestix x WWD

I stopped by the Nudestix x WWD x Socialyte pool party, it was a small intimate gathering of bloggers lounging poolside. There was some product on display in the bathroom but for the most part we just played with the blow ups and took in a relaxing moment before hitting the next party.

Desert Jam Lucky Lounge x BMF party

Hosted by BMF and sponsored by Lucky Brand, Homeaway, and Splat it was a fun pool party at the Ingleside Inn filled with drinks, poolside games and a color bar by Splat! I even got my braid chalked with their hair chalk!

Neon Carnival

Hosted by Levi’s, it never disappoints as the it party of Coachella. A modern day (and late night) carnival complete with rides and games all over the place. Only it also has free pizza, open bar, and an epic dance party, making it the most fun ever! We always have the best time partying like kids, running around, and playing on the bumper cars and riding the Ferris Wheel,

Revolve hosted another beautiful retreat at the Merv Griffin estate, complete with a skating rink, unfortunately it was too hot to do anything besides drink coconut water and gorge pizza while laying poolside starring at all the beautiful people — not that we’re complaining. It was the best way to relax on our last day of the festival.

Nylon Happiest of Hours

This was one of my favorite parties, we played with the Foster Grant Sunglasses, Nike gifted sports bras and styled them under different outfits while Milk Makeup gave makeovers. I feel like Nylon has my style down and all the sponsors made it so fun! Sports bras, sunglasses and makeup… consider me easy to please!

Road Trip to Joshua Tree in the Volvo XC60

California was one big road trip for me starting in Los Angeles to Palm Springs for Coachella with stops in Pioneer Town and Joshua Tree, two must-dos if you’re in the Palm Springs area before taking a tour of Orange County. I’m not a light packer when it comes to music festivals and being on the road for three weeks didn’t help… that, coupled with James’ stuff, a compact car was unrealistic.

Fortunately we partnered with Volvo to try out the 2017 Volvo XC60, which we basically lived out of. We had the T6 AWD Inscription trim – it drove like a dream, so much that at one point I looked down at the speedometer and found myself pushing 90, when I felt like I was going maybe 60. It’s incredible how quiet it is, smooth and solid feeling no matter what speed you’re going.

It was one of the most comfortable rides through Joshua Tree and the timing could not have been better. With all the rain they’ve been experiencing there were wild flowers blooming that hadn’t budded in decades. With so many colors, it was beautiful! We stopped to climb the rocks, walk some trails, stroll through the cactus garden, and even met a snake along the way. Enjoy the drive with us in the video above, More on the car and photo gallery below!

Back to the car, the build quality is great and after driving for a while, you start to notice a lot of well thought out design details, things that feel truly useful, polished and refined. It is quite refreshing as the way most modern cars look drives me insane, with weird curves, grills, scoops and holes everywhere which serve no purpose other than to add complexity.

Our model was packed with features and add ons like child booster chairs, heated everything (I’m talking steering wheel to windshield), adaptive cruise control, GPS parking reminders on my iphone, it’s really a smart car without trying to be too smart and most of all practical.

It’s the small things in life, which this car has in abundance. I mean, there is a button that can flip the back headrests down so you have better visibility in the back. My boyfriend always takes his off by hand and puts them back on when we have people in the back of his Jeep. I felt so spoiled in this machine. Like I said… small things!

Volvo is known as a safety focused brand and much of this design is invisible until needed at which point, you really appreciate it. Blind spot and lane departure warnings, collision and velocity sensors and a ‘City Safety’ mode which has resulted in 22% fewer collision claims (according to Wikipedia) in the SC60 compared to other SUV’s. And of course, airbags all around.

One of my favorite details is the fact that the instrument cluster tries to downplay how much information is shown to the driver. Have you ever noticed how many lights are competing for your attention when you are driving at night? You can choose to only be shown your current speed, instead of seeing the entire range of numbers in the speedometer. Because, how often do you need to see 100mph?

Back to build quality, the interior is gorgeous. In a world of uninspired, cheap plastic interiors, this one really shines. Continuous and fluid metal trim surrounds warm wood inlays on the doors and in the driver-centric infotainment console. Super comfortable seats that you could sit in for hours of road tripping.

Our model, the Inscription T6 AWD has a super and turbocharged I4 that gave it good acceleration when needed. The AWD keeps the tires where you want them and I really did get hooked on the design and use of the adaptive cruise control which lets you ‘lock’ onto a car in front of you and match its speed while you set the following distance. This keeps you from getting cramps in your gas pedal foot! The only feedback I’d give is more USB ports, but otherwise I would use the 12 volt to converter which is an easy solve for more ports.

In this transitional time of year, I’m always looking for a new fragrance to place a scented stamp on the memories of a new season.

Super thrilled to partner with gorgeous indie fragrance brand Raw Spirit to gift you or a friend with a totally free & beautiful sample of their cult classic fresh floral, Mystic Pearl.

Inspired by Bali (sigh), the fragrance opens with an oceanic rush reminiscent of a wet pearl. With a heart of sensual jasmine and fragipani, and warmth from coconut and spicy clove (think: your sophisticated beachside drink).

To grab your sample, just follow the below. No strings attached (no strings of pearls either : ( … but you’ll smell amazing).

Burt’s Bees Bring Back the Bee’s Campaign

James and I at the Westin Mission Hills Bee Farm

I love bees. They literally make the world a brighter and better place. They pollinate all sorts of fruits and vegetables and the fact that they are disappearing at such an alarming rate is something we should all be paying attention to. From 2015-2016, the bee population has declined by a whopping 44% primarily due to unreliable food sources and pesticides. Which is why I’m so happy to see Burt’s Bee’s take some initiative on this! I kind of can’t stress enough how much these littler hard workers do for us!

Burt’s Bees is bringing back their ‘2016 Bring Back the Bees’ campaign where they helped plant over one billion wildflowers (an important food source for bees) again this year. The brand hosted their 2017 Bring Back the Bees kick-off party with actresses Troian Bellisario and Zosia Mamet, who are teaming up with the brand to combat declining bee populations, one selfie and lip balm at a time.

Through the purchase of limited edition balms (which smell amazing!) and a call for “selfless selfies” on social media, the 2017 campaign aims to double the number of wildflowers planted last year and up it to two billion!  Burt’s Bees will also donate funds to  for every purchase of their Limited Edition Lip Balms and for each selfie created at Make sure you also share it on social media with the hashtag #selflessselfie.

Their Limited Edition Lip Balms include Pink Grapefruit, Wild Cherry, Coconut & Pear and Strawberry. If you noticed the “B” missing in the label, it’s to signify the loss of our bees around the world.

You can snag these balms for $3.29 at select natural, grocery, drug, and mass retailers, and via through May 30, while supplies last.

Facebook Live: Celebrate Earth Day 2017 with Botanics

I’m not alone in thinking that we should celebrate and take care of the earth every single day of the year. After all, without Mother Earth, where would we be?  Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22nd. It began in 1970 “as a day of education about environmental issues.” This is ThisThatBeauty,
