Geared for More with Adidas Golf

Growing up I used to love going to the driving range with my dad. It was one of my most favorite father-daughter activities. Granted I was terrible and no idea the difference between a driver and a putter but I had decent form and if I played my cards right (or had some blind luck) the stars would align and I’d hit a perfectly fluid shot. And it was the best feeling ever! Since then I’ve stayed at a number of exceptional properties that offer golfing but always felt intimidated hitting the course without my dad. Or maybe it was because I’m an adult now and being the competitive athlete that I am, I wasn’t ready to completely bomb at something.

After this week in Palm Springs and some motivation from Adidas Golf, I could not have been more pumped! I’ve been a longtime Adidas fan and I’m so excited to be partnering with them this summer to take lessons and test out their gear. Their Geared for More campaign is all about bringing your A-game to the course and preparing for victory. Between that and visiting the beautiful Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort (located in Rancho Mirage, right outside of Palm Springs) I was ready to bury my intimidated attitude and really take advantage of the property — and at the very least blend in.

I mean, how cute is this outfit? I’m channeling my inner pro golfer that vacations at PGA properties and spending more time in a golf cart than actual car. And speaking of the clothes, the fabric in this Golf Double Stripe Short Sleeve Polo is magic. I’ve been melting in the sun and not a single sweat mark! It’s moisture-wicking makes me look so dry and breathes so well! Also the top is a UPF50, which means it has a protection from the sun (think SPF 50 level), which is so necessary on the course. The Essentials 5 Shorts Women’s Shorts are super lightweight and move comfortably. Topped off with the Climacross Boost Women’s Golf Shoes, which are hands down my favorite, such a perfect hybrid between a golf shoe and running sneaker. Excellent grip combined with side mesh makes it breathable and comfortable to wear. It also features their Torsion System to stabilize feet while walking and swinging. I felt very secure in my stance when hitting and love the look of them!

As for golfing this week, I had the most fun ever! I actually don’t want to leave the property and prefer to wake up to this every morning. I played back to back for two days. I didn’t want to stop! The property offers two championship courses as well as a driving range with the most exceptional views of the mountains. There’s also a practice putting and chipping area so I never felt in the way of the more pro golfers as I was learning all the different techniques.

For right now I’m focused on perfecting my “L to L” swing and form in general but hopefully in a few months I’m ready to take on the 18 hole! Also I’m not going to lie, riding around in a golf cart is like half the fun, especially with Charlie as my passenger (although he had to stay in the cart the whole time — not that he minded!).

Made in LA

It’s so great to be back in LA! I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I’ve been back. Usually, I say in Santa Monica but I’ve had a blast exploring some of the other parts of LA with my amazing tour guide and host, Kristi from Currently Crushing. Her partner is an incredible photographer and I’ve had a blast shooting around the city from scenic hike areas to the classic “Made in LA” mural I’ve seen all over Instagram.

Outfit details: Jessture NY white button down dress (similar) Forever21 Belt (on sale!), MCM vintage bag (similar), Brian Atwood Platform Wedges, Sunday Somewhere sunglasses.

I’m pointing at Charlie in those photos since unlike me, he was made in LA. Although I like how we cropped out he “Made” so it just reads “In LA” in the above photo. Speaking of Charlie, this month marks the one year anniversary from when I rescued him. We’re actually headed to Palm Springs to the Westin in Mission Hills tomorrow, which is where we rescued him from. I’m so excited for the staff there to see him and just how much he has blossomed since we took him in (you can read more about his sad turned happy rescues story HERE, and how this incredible hotel brought him into my life).

I’m pretty obsessed with this white button down dress, it looks great belted or on it’s own. It’s from a newer designer I just discovered, Jessture NY. I’ve been belting it with this Forever21 BTB Two-Buckle Belt, which I have been living in this whole trip. I was looking for a vintage (or new) variation of this belt forever, go figure it would be at Forever 21 and on mega sale!

Athleisure, temperamental weather, Harry Connick Jr (and it’s only Monday)

What is happening? It’s summer, it’s winter, one minute it’s warm and the next you’re enjoying a sandwich from your favorite local Alidoro spot and then next our server is Harry Connick Jr. disguised as an old man. No really, that happened to me today. Don’t worry I’ll share the video of him peeling off his mask *think Mission Impossible style* to reveal himself when it airs on his show. On the upside I got a blow-out this morning so at least my hair looked good. I was otherwise in my usual athleisure-no-ones-paying attention to me lunch attire.

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‘//’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

Outfit details:

Nike Tech FleeceDestroyer Jacket

Asteria Active Zig Zag Leggings

Mon Purse Bowler Leather bag

66North Kaldi Arctic Hat

Adidas Originals Sneakers

Which brings me to my seasonally confused outfit and some latest obsessions I meshed together for my not-so-casual lunch. First off how cute are these Zig Zag leggings from Asteria Active? My friend Jenny, turned me onto this brand and I’ve been looking for a cute pair of black mesh cut out leggings. I’m also in love with this top from the brand. I saw this jacket worn by Olivia Palermo on Six:02’s instagram page and needed it. Okay “need” is a strong word when associated with anything white (I give myself a week before ruining it with a coffee stain). And I just dug up this hat from 66North since I’m gearing up for Iceland and realized, with the bipolar weather I should probably add a hat to this look. Lastly, since going to the Mon Purse pop-up shop a month or so ago at Bloomingdale’s I can’t get enough of this brand! I customized the pink bag and liner as well as monogrammed it with my name “Lara” in silver across the front. All of their bags can be customized on their website and they have some super cool functionality on their site. I also have the change purse and wallet, both in black with my name/initials.

Life updates, Blogger advice and this retro Lafayette 148 outfit

Happy last day of February everyone! This year is flying by and I for one am ready for a vacation. It has been the most exciting few months of filming and magazine collaborations which I can not wait to share with all of you! Between Health Magazine announcing my campaign with Olay (we have another surprise coming soon!), Redbook featuring my charity and I got to announce my partnership with Vanity Fair, February will be hard to beat. However, March brings some awesome projects with Glamour, New Beauty and Amazon which I dying to see! I started my site 9 years ago because I worked for the best beauty and skincare brands and it felt like no one was leveraging experts or sharing product formulations and information in the way it’s so readily available now! And the fact that this industry (not just in beauty but fashion and travel too) continues to surprise me and push my creativity, it is never a dull moment. What I did with Olay was groundbreaking. I’ve never known a blogger or really any identifiable person go through clinicals to have their skin checked during product testing. It’s always just an anonymous clinical statistic and some number of a percentage of women that saw changes.  I’ll have more to unveil on that soon! I think the best part of working non-stop this new year was after months of being excited but so exhausted from early call times and the hours I spent researching, testing and reading before going on camera is now I get to sit back and see all of these projects come to life. Every collaboration has been so different and I’m so inspired how much magazines are embracing bloggers, these past few months I have been inspired and challenged in ways I didn’t even know were possible.

Outfit details:

Sunday Somewhere Isabella Sunglasses

Lafayette 148 Visionary Plaid Silk Blouse, Lacquered Lambskin Skirt, Elise Coat (similar)

Kenneth Cole Booties (similar)

Balley vintage bag

As of mid March most everything I’ve giving my blood, sweat and tears of joy too (but literally though, I actually let Olay do a biopsy on me — but no more hints!), will have launched and I’m off to Iceland to celebrate and visit the Blue Lagoon. I’m so excited, I don’t even have words. I’m taking a tour and learning how they make the products followed by getting the royal Blue Lagoon experience. The great debate, do I bring this Lafayette 148 Elise shearling jacket with me, or a big puffy jacket, ha! This coat has been the best winter investment, it’s so warm and cozy! I’m actually loving all of the recent Lafayette 148 launches, and this was one of my outfits from Fashion Week — I was going for a retro vibe.

If you’ve been to Iceland let me know your recommendations, I’ll be there for 4 days! Otherwise I can’t wait to share everything with you. And if I don’t say it enough thank you all for your encouragement and support. I had a few readers recently ask me how I get so many cool collaborations and my advice to all of you is don’t compromise, and figure out how you can do things differently. I get a lot of offers, many of which I see on some of your instagram pages that seem plagiarized and recycled and dictated by the brand. I don’t feel comfortable working in that way. It’s just not my choice to be put in a box, even for extra income. Which I totally understand is a necessity for some of you. Just consider the longterm ramifications and why I would turn something like that down. Again my blog is 9 years old. And I held major positions with top beauty brands before starting my site so I’m a marathon runner in this, not a sprinter. The more corners you cut the less endurance you have for the long game. Also don’t be afraid to push back and change programs. Also ask for extensions if you don’t have enough time to really try a product. I’ve actually had a lot of luck with brands listening to me and letting me do things my way. The reason my collaborations seem different is because they are. And I’ve customized what I want to try, how I want to try it and the experience around it. I also work in all my trial times. You’re doing yourself and your readers a disservice if you’re agreeing to like something before trying it. If you want to be taken seriously, take yourself seriously because whether you’ve had your blog for 5 days or 5 years, or have 5 followers or 5 million, we’re all part of a blogging community that looses integrity, every time you let someone control your voice. And we become so much stronger every time someone pushes the envelope. So I encourage you all to stay creative and shine! Believe it or not brands respect criticism, it just has to be constructive feedback and not emotional.

Who’s ready to rock March?

New 2017 Pirelli Calendar by Peter Lindbergh Unveiled

The 2017 Pirelli Calendar has been revealed and spoiler: it’s amazing. Shot by one of my favorite photographers, the iconic, Peter Lindbergh, this calendar conveys “personality, sensitivity, and the guts to be yourself.” While the photos are incredible so is the fact that Lindbergh is the first in the industry to have shot three editions of this infamous Calendar. The Pirelli Calendar, which has been produced yearly since launching in 1963 has previously been shot by big industry names including Helmut Newton, Steven Meisel and Annie Leibovitz and has featured so many iconic models and celebrities.

The 2017 star studded edition features the likes of Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, and other swoon worthy big screen names. The result was forty portrait and ambient photos taken in Berlin, L.A., New York, London and the French beach of Le Touquet.

Peter Lindbergy hosted an intimate discussion and cocktail party for the release during fashion week at Cipriani’s in NYC. I can’t tell you how serendipitous and exciting it was to meet him — of course it was outside the event when I was catching a cab home. He was mobbed at the party with fans, and frankly, I was too nervous to introduce myself until I found him next to me waiting for his car. Even through our picture is blurry, I don’t care, I was so incredibly excited to meet him. Especially since my friend Dan flew early from LA to come to the event with me. (He’s literally Peter Lindbergh’s #1 fan). Needless to say this was one of the highlights of my fashion week.

For more info about the making of this year’s calendar and the content, check out the Pirelli Calendar website here.

Jumping for joy

I am so excited! I woke up to a tweet yesterday that I was featured in “The Best Makeup and Beauty Blogs That You Need to be Following” by Total Beauty as one of six bloggers! I work my a$$ off everyday swatching, trying, going to events looking for the latest and greatest. Meeting so many of the pioneers and founders of makeup brands that to have that recognized, means a lot to me. I started my site 9 years ago and the changes I’ve seen — my site is older than twitter, snapchat and Instagram, if that helps put things in perspective. If you’re a beauty enthusiast, you should vote in Total Beauty’s 8th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards. You get entered to win prizes and most importantly help them pick the winners!

Anyways, it’s Friday, and after a very long, epic, Fashion Week (recap coming soon!),  I’m so looking forward to a weekend in sweats and to play with all these new products I just got.  This was one of my outfits from Fashion Week, I wore Eliza J almost non-stop. How cute is the jumpsuit with this velvet backpack? I picked up the bag at the Six:02 store, which is my favorite place to shop for workout gear. They just opened their second location in Times Square last week and if you’re going through an athleisure phase, or just like really hot workout clothes — the Ive Park, Fenty Puma… this is the spot. They also have a website, which I’ve been shopping on before they opened their stores (I’m like their super fan).

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s); = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);
